Volunteer Program
As a nonprofit organization, our dedicated volunteers are invaluable as they assist in delivering our equine-assisted services, ensuring the well-being of our herd, and helping our community projects and events. The connections formed among participants, volunteers, and horses benefit our overall mission.
Become a vital part of our team at Good Spirit. Whether you're passionate about learning about horses, caring for these magnificent animals, supporting therapeutic lessons, helping with fundraising and event planning, or attending community events—there's a meaningful role for you here.
We prioritize safety and ensure everyone feels welcomed, comfortable, and confident in their role. Training is provided to all volunteers, ensuring you have the skills and knowledge needed to contribute effectively.
Volunteer Details
Volunteers who support our herd participate in tasks such as feeding, filling waters, turnout, and mucking.
Supporting roles for equine-assisted activities vary from being a horse leader, a side-walker (assisting students by staying at their side either as a cheerleader or as physical support), and assisting with lesson activities. These roles require training and experience, which we are more than excited to provide to have you on board.
All volunteers start their journey by booking a tour and training session. Volunteer positions are locked in by committing to a weekly barn shift or lesson. We are fortunate to say most of our volunteers commit to 1 - 2 days/shifts a week. On the rare occasion they are unable to come, our volunteer community pitches into sub for other’s shifts as they are available.
